Wasn't it great?! We heard stories from around the world including West Africa, Jamaica, China, Iraq and Cornwall in England. And we had songs and dances from China, Korea, Iraq, and Japan! We learnt a lot about different cultures but more importantly we had an awesome time!!

Did you take any photo's? If you did please email them to us at either jar215@exeter.ac.uk or kle209@exeter.ac.uk so that we can share them with everyone!

We would just like to say thank you to everyone who participated, either by telling a story, singing a song or being such a great audience! And finally a HUGE thank you to David, without whom the night wouldn't exist!!

We hope to see you all at our next event!!

Also this week sees the much loved Songs and Stories night hosted by our very own teacher at Duryard, David Heathfield. It's an amazing night of celebration of different cultures through song, music and stories, told by both David and the audience..so if you would like to be a part of this unique and very special evening, please come along to the INTO Building on Thursday 21st July at 6pm, where it will be held in the Lecture Theatre. Weekend Activities!!

Hello to everyone who participated in our weekend's events!

First of all, hello to all the students who came to our pool party! It was a real party with a birthday - and of course birthday cake! Only Jon and Kayleigh actually came into the pool as the students didn't have any swimming costumes- but we still had lots of fun! We had a competition where Jon and Kayleigh had to find as many coins as possible that had been thrown into the pool by the students. Jon won by a large margin!!

Next, a big hello to all the students who braved the rain and came to Cardiff!

Despite the weather, everyone had a lovely time! There was lots to see, and lots of shopping to be done!

Finally hello to all the students who came to sports! We played badminton, and basketball yesterday (though remember we have table tennis and football available too!). We played singles and doubles games, and had a really good time!

Keep checking our blog for information about this week's events!

British Slang Words!!

Have you ever come across any English words which you've never heard before and seem to make no sense? Slang is the name of a group of words which is used in very informal situations and mostly amongst friends, and you will find different regions of the UK have their own unique words. So if you fancy broadening your vocabulary and learning some fun and interesting new words, have a look at these websites!

Student card high Street Discounts!!

This week most of you will be collecting your student cards! As well as using it for borrowing books, magazines and DVDs from the library you can use it to print on campus! Just take it to any computer room (the library has many), select what you want to print from your PC and swipe the card in the machine! You already have £1 of credit to use, and once you have your bank cards you can top-up online...also another great advantage of having this card is when you go shopping!! Most shops in the High Street offer student discounts of 10% so it's well worth asking! You can also get a discount whenever you go to the cinema, and if you buy a meal in any macdonalds restaurants you get free food!! So use it as much as you can and enjoy!!

Would you like to dance tomorrow? (Tuesday!)

Does anyone like dancing? One of our favourite nightclubs in Exeter is called Timepiece, and every Tuesday I go there to dance! If you would like to join all 4 of us, you can! All you have to do is meet us outside the shop Boots, which is on the High Street at 9pm, and please remember to bring identification with you, for example a passport or driver's licence as all clubs and pubs in Exeter ask for proof of age...This nightclub is a very good one as every night it plays different music, Tuesday will be salsa and international songs! There is no dresscode, so just dress casually, and admission is free!!! Don't worry if you can't dance, you can sit and watch the Summer Support Team dancing instead! So we hope to see many of you then :)

Our first daytrip!!!

Last Saturday we had our first daytrip of the summer!! Luckily the weather was nice and sunny and loads of students came! So thank you very much to everyone that came along, we hope you all enjoyed it too...now let's look forward to the next trip, this Saturday to the lovely Welsh city of Cardiff!!! :)

Table Tennis Fun!!

Hello and well done to all the students who came to play table tennis last night!

When we first arrived we had some time to practise our skills (or in my case learn to play!), and then we had a mini-competition. Everybody entered, and we saw some very impressive (and not so impressive - who says you have to use the table?!) players. In the picture above are our champions Chris and Luke!

Every one had a very good time, and it was a good opportunity to meet some British people and practise our English.

Remember tonight we have badminton from 5pm - 6pm at the sports park.
AND IT'S FREE!!

I hope that everyone will come (there is no need to sign up -just come!), and maybe YOU will be the new champions!
